Archive for Used Chevy Conversion Van
When I was looking for the perfect family vehicle, I had a Goldilocks-type sense of what I wanted. An RV was too big and clunky. An SUV was too small and trendy. A Chevy conversion van was just right. As it turned out, choosing a conversion van was the perfect choice. Nothing suits our family quite like our Chevy van. Here are just a few things that we love about our Chevy conversion van.
Many consumers in the market for a large or recreational vehicle do not realize that buying a conversion van can give more bang for the buck. Many conversion van models do not cost more than a large SUV and a whole lot less than a traditional RV. Financially speaking, opting for a conversion van was the perfect medium between the other two options — and, in our case; we paid less than either for the van. Imagine that. A custom-built, family-sized vehicle, which has many amenities with the price of an SUV that does not guzzle gas? I consider this pure perfection.
The spatial capacity of a conversion van is surprisingly large. It is not always apparent from the outside, but a conversion van’s interior is quite roomy and very comfortable. My family of four (including two children that consider constant bickering a vital daily function) never felt cramped or crowded on extensive road trips. When we first considered a conversion van, I was very nervous about the space issue. One purchase and a long trip later was all I needed to banish that notion.
Here is the ironic inverse of the abundant space bonus. Somehow, the roomy conversion van still manages to feel intimate. Unlike the larger cabs of an RV, where fellow travelers can vanish from plain sight, conversion vans keep travel companions within eyeshot. When supervising children during an outing, this eyes-on, hands-off ability becomes very helpful. You can keep a watchful eye out without suffocating anyone’s space or travel experience.
This is the best part about our conversion van because we chose our own features. It did not take us long to mutually agree that a flat-screen television was a necessary component for the van, but we also installed a couple of game systems. After adding a refrigerator, satellite radio and sound system, hitting the road became more about the trip than the actual destination.
I remember growing up in the deep south, during a time when most families couldn’t even afford a bicycle let alone a conversion van.
So it came as quite a shock to my brothers and sisters and I, when our father walked in one day with a set of keys to a brand new conversion van.
I can still recall the first time he took us on our first trip to Walt Disney World in it. What a fantastic journey filled with memories I’ll soon not forget. We had just arrived to the park’s car lot when we realized it was time for lunch. Thankfully, we had a mini-fridge on board our conversion van which meant bringing along a great lunch for everyone was no problem. And having the ability to simply open up the back doors and sit down with everyone in quasi-picnic area was a dream.
Although it’s been years since I took a ride in my father’s conversion van for the first time, I still get a rush of nostalgia whenever I see when.
And it always brings a smile too my face.
I have had dreams about things that I haven’t thought about in years—ex-wives, former co-workers, old cars—I even dreamed once that I was a star in the National Basketball Association, with my zero vertical jump and my 9.0 time in the 40. Talk about fantasy!
The dream I had the other night left me shaking my head, but also got me to thinking. It was about that long ago animated sitcom, the Flintstones. Now I haven’t seen the Flintstones on TV since the early 70s, but in the dream there I was, right alongside Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty and Bamm-Bamm. I have no idea where Pebbles was—must have been her nap time!
Anyway, here was my thought—what would the Flintstones have thought about the Chevy conversion van? They would have been loyal customers at Dave Arbogast Conversion Van Depot, that’s for sure. Fred would have loved the customer service, the way Arbogast makes customers feel like family.
Wilma would have liked the amazing selection of Chevy Conversion vans, new and used. If you remember, Wilma liked to spend Fred’s money, and she could do that at Dave Arbogast. The vans are priced to sell, and because of the large inventory, the Flintstones would have found the perfect van for a price that would fit into their stone-age budget.
New and Used Chevy Conversion vans have great safety features like dual air bags and child Safety locks (to make sure Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm stay where they are supposed to be!) Other features include remote start, 24 hour road assistance, a full sized spare tire and cruise control. It’s safe to say that the Flintstones had never heard of any of those features.

Kelley Blue Book, Blackbook and NADA do not account for the very expensive conversion that was added to your van. Often this leads to consumers getting taken advantage of by their local dealer. Many times the dealer has no idea what to give you for your van conversion so they throw out a low number.

Albert Pujols, the sure fire Hall of Fame first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, is on the final year of his contract. Negotiations have been on-going, and numbers like $300 million for 10 years are floating around. $30 million a year to play baseball? Yeah, I’d take that.
I’m not saying that Pujols isn’t a great baseball player. He’s the best in the game today and one of the greatest of all time. But there is no man living or dead worth $30 million a year, especially a baseball player.
Salaries are just ridiculous in sports, and the end has to come sometime. There is a very real threat of a lockout in the National Football League because owners and players cannot decide how to split $9 billion— in profits! Forget expenses, we are talking profits here, and all these very rich men are doing is calling each other names and pointing fingers. It’s truly unbelievable.
Maybe we should lock all of them in van conversions and forget it. Conversion vans aren’t nearly as expensive as these guys, and they can be customized to fit your needs and desires. When was the last time a sports team or league customized anything to fit you?
Conversion vans are more versatile than any old baseball player. Their size allows you to go anywhere you want, and their gas mileage makes travel a lot less stressful on your wallet, something a baseball player would never consider.
With spacious interiors, luxurious amenities, and road going comfort, Explorer conversion vans could be called the best value on the road today. And they make a lot more sense than high priced baseball players!

Sitting in my easy chair, waiting for the Super Bowl to start, I watched as Christina Aguilera butchered the National Anthem. That was bad enough. Then came the excuses.
Aguilera herself said that she was “caught up in the moment”. I have no idea what that means. Maybe she was upset that some of the players had better hair than she did, who knows? Her agent said she was nervous and not used to performing in front of 103,000 people. He says she deserves a pass. I don’t think so, pal.
I don’t know why people can’t just say “I blew it.” Aguilera has sung the anthem many times before, in front of big crowds and national television audiences. She performs for a living, for crying out loud.
Hey, we all make mistakes. The fact that she blew the song doesn’t bother me nearly as much as all the excuses afterward. Man up, Christina (or is that woman up?) You blew it. Say so and let’s move on.

For several years now, many people have made as much of the commercials during the Super Bowl as they have the game itself. This year, unlike the game, the commercials fell flat.
The quest to have the top commercial has led some companies into stupidity. Most of this year’s commercials either made no sense, or insulted your intelligence. I liked the talking baby commercial, but I couldn’t begin to tell you whose commercial that was. There was the Doritos commercial with the guy licking the cheese off another man’s finger—absolute stupidity. And the GoDaddy.com commercial that passed off Joan Rivers as the next Go Daddy girl—please!
The rest of them just got lost. It doesn’t make any sense, and it doesn’t work, to have a sixty second commercial and give the name of your product once—at the end. By the time you get there, you are ready for something else, maybe something that an adult could understand.
So creativity is a must…at least it’s preferred over stupidity. And you can be very creative when you purchase an Explorer Conversion Van from Dave Arbogast in Troy, Ohio.
You can be creative and customize a Chevy Explorer Conversion van to fit the needs of you and your family. Explorers are the ultimate in luxury, comfort, entertainment and personalization. They offer more room than a full sized SUV, and combine the convenience of RVs with much better mileage, much smoother handling, and much easier parking. There is nothing stupid about owning an Explorer Conversion Van from Dave Arbogast in Troy.
